Finca Terra Viva is a proud member of Cooperativa de productores de leche Dos Pinos. We milk our 60 cows twice a day and obtain an average of 1200 Kg daily. Terra Viva is one of the few dairy farms in the whole country with the distinction of a BLUE FLAG, resulting from its good environmental practices and energy and water management. Finca Terra Viva is a leading farm in the Monteverde area for its orientation for Carbon Neutrality.

We work in 3 major areas to reach this goal:

1.Feeding the cows with grass daily as well as rotating the herd daily so the soil gets richer and fixes carbon.
2.Using all the manure as organic fertilizer, and
3. Saving 65% of our land forest preservation as well as natural reforestation which increases the carbon fixation.

BOTTLE FEEDING CALVES

If you would like to bottle-feed the calves, you MUST coordinate with the Concierge the day before. The visit takes place in the morning, approximately between 7:30 and 8:00 am. You MUST be accompanied by a member of the Finca Terra Viva Team during the activity. The meeting point is at the gate painted like a cow, located in the reception parking area. A symbolic fee of $10 applies per family (1 to 5 members). The maximum group size is 10 people.

Make sure your flashlight is recharged! We invite you to explore the deep areas of Terra Viva Private Reserve along its untouched pristine streams in search of big and small but always amazing species of frogs, insects, reptiles, mammals, etc that make this land so unique. It is safe and you can do it by yourself, just follow any of our multiple trails. Don’t forget to look up: an owl, a kinkajou maybe be watching you!
