Monteverde is an area entirely protected by private hands, there is no National Park here. The largest pieces of forest have been already acquired by The Monteverde Conservation League and the Tropical Science Center, today this land is successfully managed as the famous Monteverde Reserve. But there are also hundreds of land owners who thrive to preserve their smaller forested pieces as natural as possible. Some of them have trails for visitors to walk, like Terra Viva.
There are also pieces of land for sale with less than 50% of their area in standing forest. This is the best opportunity for conservation oriented people today to let more forest grow, by buying these pieces and letting the forest come back.
We can help you find a place near us. You can keep some of the clearing for future building and let most of it to recover. This is such a fast process. We are experiencing that at Terra Viva.
We know of properties near us at values that range from $12,000 to $20,000 an acre, depending on access road condition and services available.
These are pieces of land whose owners don’t want to farm anymore (since opportunities of work are abundant in the area and the earnings greater than farming).
